FarewellThis journal is to remind (or inform ) you that my term as Street Photography Community Volunteer is over and that as for tomorrow I'll go back to my previous state of simple dA member. This means that from now on you have to send your street photography DD suggestions to one of the admins that feature in all the categories http://help.deviantart.com/18/ .Oh, this also means that from tomorrow if you piss me off I will send you to fuck off with no restraint for community core values of sort and I can finally block whoever insults me. I can't wait for it, actually . Being a CV used up a lot of my time, and I hope to use the new free time to take photos, hang around, and for some other very much needed off-line activities I've got ideas and plans. And now the thank-you roundup. I am sorry to say that my opinion that street photographers mostly are arrogant self absorbed bitches has been confirmed during this year, but... thank goodness there are exceptions

Why Street Photography is not documentaryStreet photography is an eye focused on the ordinary, on the every day life. Its interest is in capturing every day moments and situations that filtered through the sensitivity, vision, personality of the photographer are able to pass emotions and sensations to the viewer.Moments can be of every kind: ironic, sad, melancholic, surreal, beautiful, wry, tender, poetic, destabilizing, iconic, descriptive. They all show aspects of life. Sharing with you an interesting article by Evangelo Costadimas. All time Mary's specialsIf you like what you see, this articleso it can reach as many deviants as possible. This journal is dedicated to the most special person I've met in dAwho also happened to take care of the Street gallery during the last 12 months,as a small gift, or another way of saying "thank you". Or rather"Grazie! ":iconmyraincheck:djailledie:"Being a great street photographer doesn't make you a great street CV. That's I'm sure something that the dA staff is well aware of. It REQUIRES to be a great street photographer, but it takes a lot of other skills:- Accept to spend a lot of time, finding the hidden gems of this huge community, browsing hundreds of images every day, fighting the overdose, and keeping a fresh eye. If I look at the exposure that the recent Street DD awardees had prior to receiving this DD, I am very happy to see that a lot of them were highly underrated. Mary has shed some light on people who were unknown to most.- Ha

EXCEPTIONAL PHOTOGRAPHERS ON dA ed. FEBRUARYfrom "Queen of Silhouettes" to "The Girl with the Pearl Earring"Hello everybody, this month we are together with wonderful photographer Iryna :iconIFedorovskaya:. In her galleries you will discover the magic of the light and admire how smoothly she handles it.-Tell us a little about yourself.Hello everybody and thank you for all your tremendous support and kindness you gave me here, on deviantart. I was born in Ukraine 40 years ago in family of professional musicians. Everybody, not only my mom and dad, uncles, aunts, cousins, my two stepfathers play or played instruments... Of course, I had no choice but to play piano. But then tradition was broken, I graduated from State Economics University. Worked as accountant for only 2 months (too boring). Then I was a DJ, host of couple shows on local radio station, political journalist. On weekends I

It means a lot to me and it is a great honor. I'm London based photographer, born and bred in former Czechoslovakia. My grandpa was an engineer and my dad had a building company so I was always more or less expected to study Engineering and Architecture. I think it gave me a good foundation for compostition as I always loved geometry and drawing. From architecture and drawing, photography was the next logical way to express myself.-How did your relationship with Photography begin and how has it developed through the years?I was 14 when I went to a

Failography"It is important to take bad pictures" (Diane Arbus)This is the beginning of an interesting book by Clément Chéroux, Fautographie : petite histoire de l'erreur photographique (I don't know if the book was translated in english, I couldn't find it on the net, but the title should sound like Failography: a brief history of the photographic error). Amongst the biggest 'mistakers' of photography, the book mentions and comments the works of many famous photographers: Man Ray, Lisette Model, Lee Friedlander, Ugo Mulas, Andreé Kertész, Lartigue. Many are the anecdotes and the interesting discoveries, for example the story of a big national contest in France, in 1991, entitled 'Fautographie' (fail photography), a contest that had a big success, with thousands of entries and famous editors and critics working on decoding the case of the photographic error. According to Chéroux what is commonly considered a 'photographic
